Statistics Canada will release Canada consumer prices for November and retail sales data for October at 8:30 am ET, Thursday. Inflation is forecast to rise 0.2 percent on month after a 0.1 percent rise in October.

Ahead of these data, the loonie rose against its major rivals.

The loonie was worth 1.5183 against the euro, 0.9826 against the aussie, 1.2806 against the greenback and 88.64 against the yen as of 8:20 am ET.
