The Greece current account deficit increased notably in October from a year ago, the Bank of Greece reported Thursday.

The current account deficit climbed to EUR 624.1 million in October from EUR 267.9 million in the corresponding month last year.

The deficit on goods trade widened to EUR 1.83 billion from EUR 1.32 billion last year. Meanwhile, the surplus on services rose to EUR 1.37 billion from EUR 1.17 billion.

Primary income showed a negative balance of EUR 55.3 million versus a shortfall of EUR 26.6 million last year. Likewise, secondary income came in at -EUR 110.2 million after posting EUR 94.1 million deficit a year ago.

The capital account surplus shrank to EUR 8.4 million from EUR 26.8 million. On the other side, the financial account deficit narrowed markedly to EUR 78.3 million from EUR 356.2 million.
