At 3.55 am ET Wednesday, the Federal Labor Agency is scheduled to issue Germany’s unemployment data. The number of unemployed is forecast to fall 13,000 in December, following a decrease of 18,000 in November.

Ahead of the data, the euro retreated from early highs against its major rivals.

The euro was worth 1.2040 against the greenback, 135.25 against the yen, 1.1708 against the franc and 0.8854 against the pound as of 3:50 am ET.
