Brazil consumer confidence strengthened further in November to the highest level in just over three years, figures from the FGV IBRE showed Tuesday.

The consumer confidence index climbed by 3.1 points to 86.8 in November from 83.7 in October.

Moreover, this was the highest score since October 2014, when it was 91.1.

The current situation index rose for the fourth straight month by 1.3 points to 74.5 in November, the highest since June 2015.

Similarly, the expectations index increased by 4.2 points to 90.6, the highest since April 2014.

“With inflation and falling interest rates and better prospects for employment, the Brazilian consumer is more likely to appreciate the trend in household finances and outlines more momentum for durable purchases in the coming months,” Viviane Seda Bittencourt, coordinator of consumer survey, said.
