I was looking thru Block explorer at an address with a balance. It has never been spent from thus the public key is unknown. If the public key is unknown, how can Block explorer calculate the hash160 of the public key?
I sent a transaction from blockchain.info and for some reason it appears they didn’t include a high enough fee to get confirmed. I looked into double spending and it was way to complex for me. Would someone be willing to please assist me? The hash is (…)

After the hack, Bitfinex publicly stated they were pooling funds into the above cold storage addresses; this amounted to 125,424 BTC. (I’ve polled a handful of people; everyone polled had their outgoing withdrawals originate from the above addresses. After relaunch, that amount sits at 57,799 BTC:

I can’t confirm the 1KEpBWJ87TTyRJaSkeNTJVq4zEMAZ7g1hc address (779 BTC) based on shared transactions, but it fits Bitfinex’s hot wallet procedure.
At no time has any large deposit (>1000 BTC) been made to Bitfinex’s hot or cold storage (which didn’t originate from one of its known addresses — there are a few large deposits whose outputs all lead back to the same known hot/cold addresses). There is no evidence that Bitfinex controls the 76,563 BTC that it credited back to customers.
It is possible that the missing BTC is held in separate wallets that are not public identified. If that is the case, I would ask Bitfinex to prove it. Bitfinex: If you want any chance to regain the trust of your customers and the BTC community, you must prove that you control the funds you are currently liable for.
It is also possible, if the the missing BTC was held in separate (unknown) wallets, that some was withdrawn to pay customer withdrawals. If that is the case, Bitfinex should be able to sign addresses (other than its publicly known ones) that held the 76,563 BTC prior to relaunch of the site.
If Bitfinex is unable to provide this proof, we should assume they are still insolvent.

Probably a lot worse than the clients of Cypriot banks, who had to forfeit between 6.75% and 9.9% of their account holdings as part of the infamous “bail-in” of 2013. Besides the fact that the percentage is much larger, your bail-in was totally unexpected. Nobody saw it coming.
