PowerShares Multi-Strategy Alternative Portfolio [LALT]

LALT seeks long-term total return through an actively managed fund-of-funds that employs a multi-strategy alternative approach. The fund is designed to provide lower correlation and more diversified risk exposures over various market cycles as compared to traditional equity and fixed income benchmarks. The portfolio primarily consists of exchange-traded products (ETPs) that provide exposure to multiple alternative asset categories and strategies, including, but not limited to: hedged equity, long/short, event-driven, managed futures, commodities, real estate, opportunistic fixed income, relative value, currencies, and global macro. Eligible ETPs are initially evaluated based on their correlation to traditional asset classes, total return profile, and standard deviation of returns.The fund adviser uses market-related data to analyze and incorporate broader macroeconomic factors into the funds strategy. Lastly, the adviser constructs multiple prospective portfolios to assess risk and returns. The fund may include ETFs, ETNs, and trusts backed by physical commodities or currencies.
