February 28, 2014 – Indices News
The Asian session has traded mixed as it’s reacted to market uncertainty. In early session markets reacted to the unrest that is occurring in Ukraine despite Yellen’s speech, where she stated that the US economy is improving. As a result people again turned to their safe haven asset (e.g. JPY). This caused the Nikkei 225 to be pulled down. In later session the USD rallied against the Yuan, causing traders to question China’s financial improvement. Subsequently stocks fell further down. Binary Option Traders should track the economic outlook in China, as it has been a key mover for the Asian market in the past week. At the end the Nikkei closed 0.55% lower, the ASX 200 dropped 0.12% and the Hang Seng added 0.23%.
The European session has just opened. Traders will be eager to track stocks movement for the day. Markets are suspecting a mixed trading day after yesterday’s fundamental data. The political occurrences in Ukraine has left stocks tumbling yesterday. Today the situation between Russia and Ukraine has not been improving, which could cause stocks to fall further down. However, Yellen’s speech could be given a boost for the European equity market. Traders should track the CPI report which will be released at 10.00AM GMT today. Currently the FTSE is down 0.4%, the Dax is 0.07% and the CAC is at 0.0%.
In yesterday’s US session, stocks has gotten a boost after Janet Yellen’s testimony. Traders around the world were eager to track the fed’s speech for clues about monetary policy. Yellen has stated that the economy is improving. She then blamed recent bad economic data on bad weather conditions. Her statement has left investors speculating that the Fed will probably continue to scale it’s stimulus. After her statement indices soared. Binary Option Traders seem confident that tapering will not hurt stocks, instigating that the US economy is strong enough to sustain it. As a result the S&P500 has again closed at a new record high, finishing 0.49% higher, the NASDAQ gained 0.63% and the Dow went 0.46% up.
