European markets have opened lower today, as traders refrain from taking riskier bets ahead of the key US Federal Reserve Bank policy meeting and the Scottish independence referendum due later this week.

Closer home, traders will keep a tab on consumer prices data which is widely expected to show that the annual inflation eased in August. Additionally, ZEW sentiment data from Germany and Eurozone will be closely tracked for further guidance.
