October 15, 2014 – Stock Market News
Asian stocks started to rebound following a bearish week. In China, transport companies rallied as Oil continued to drop. In Japan, Airlines and electronics shares demonstrated significant gains.
Sberbank of Russia decreased 1.66%. The market in India was closed today due to General Assembly Elections. Gazprom OAO continued falling for a second day dropping 0.72% lower.
European stocks opened lower due to concerns of a slowdown in growth. In the UK, the FTSE 100 lost 1.18% despite posting a decline in unemployment rates. Shire PLC, the bio-pharmaceutical company, lost an astonishing 24.53% today after AstraZeneca PLC board state it is reconsidering the recommendation they provided shareholders to back its purchase of Shire PLC. Following the statement AstraZeneca PLC dropped 3.72%. Rio Tinto declined 1.60%.
U.S stocks closed higher as they corrected from their drop. Markets have also entered the earning release seasion and this should provide some good guidance for investors. Bank of America Corp. advanced 0.73% yesterday with the anticipation that the banks earning release later today would be positive. Ebay Inc. will also release its earning reports today. The stock added 0.26% yesterday but has shown some signs of decline in pre-market trading. Netflix Inc. is another large company which will release its earning reports today. Yesterday Netflix Inc added 2.40% and has continued rising in pre-market trading today.
