After ending Clip Art earlier this year due to its dated, limited usefulness, Microsoft has moved on to consider further alterations.  Chief among them includes talk of replacing Internet Explorer with a lighter, more responsive browser.  Internet Explorer has taken flack for a long time for being slow and unreliable, causing many otherwise devoted Windows users to prefer Firefox or Chrome.  Current talk is that Microsoft will be releasing a new browser with Windows 10 this next year.  While the new browser, Spartan, could start off as an alternative option to Internet Explorer, this looks to be the beginning of the end for Good ‘Ole IE.

Pfizer has recently taken a stand against generic drugs.  A long-time issue for drug companies is that when a specific drug reaches the end date on its patent, other drug companies begin to undersell the brand name.  With a drug for neuropathic pain relief soon to lose its patent, Pfizer has threatened doctors who might already be trying to prescribe out a generic version.  What gives it this power is a specific patent not on the drug itself, but on the specific method of treatment.  Doctors will thus be able to prescribe the generic version of the drug, but not to treat the condition for which it is intended.  Confusing as it may seem, it is a loophole that allows Pfizer to prevent doctors and pharmacists from distributing the cheaper variant of an otherwise identical product.
