European markets have opened mostly lower today, as traders refrain from taking major bets ahead of speeches by central bank heads at the US Federal Reserve’s annual Jackson Hole symposium.

Amid a lack of domestic economic releases today, the Fed Chair, Janet Yellen’s remarks will be in focus especially after the minutes of Fed’s latest policy meeting indicated that officials debated whether to raise interest rates earlier than expected. Additionally, speeches by the European Central Bank President, Mario Draghi, and the Bank of Japan Governor, Haruhiko Kuroda, will attract investors’ attention for further guidance.
