European markets have opened higher today, after the International Monetary Fund (IMF) revised higher its 2014 global growth forecast. However, investors are expected to refrain from taking larger bets ahead of earnings updates from several European companies.

Closer home, investors await the release of the minutes of the Bank of England’s previous month policy meeting, due later in the day. UK unemployment rate and public sector net borrowing data would also be on investors’ radar to gauge the market direction.
