European markets have opened lower today, as investors assessed US Fed’s monetary policy statement as less dovish, adding to speculation that the US central bank might slow the pace of its monthly bond purchases sooner-than-expected.

Closer home, GFK’s index of UK consumer confidence fell to -11 in October from -10 in the previous month. Data also revealed that housing prices in UK rose higher- than- expected by 1.0% MoM and 5.8% YoY in October.
