Asian equities were hit overnight, with the Shanghai index closing down by more than 5%, the Nikkei losing 0.30% and the Hang Seng closing 1.56% lower than the open.
Euro indices have followed suit and all opened lower – the FTSE is currently trading 32.5 points down, while the DAX has lost around 25 points so far in early trading.
US markets were closed for Thanksgiving yesterday and will effectively remain closed today as Black Friday leads us into the weekend.
The Euro has hit a seven-month low as more QE for the Eurozone weighs down on the currency.
The markets will look to several data releases today, including the Eurozone economic confidence report for Novemeber, as well as Eurozone and German consumer confidences – all set to be released at 11:00am GMT. UK Q3 GDP will also be announced at 9:30am GMT along with Greece’s October PPI and Q3 GDP at 10:00am GMT.
