Apple has once again decided not to adjust the internal storage capacity of the basic iPhone 6. This is a decision seen year after year with whichever model is current, and saves Apple over $3 billion per year that translate into earnings. It also means that those who desire enough memory to spend extra, which becomes pivotal for those who want the full range of popular apps. The basic, 16 GB (gigabyte) model simple doesn’t have enough memory for the increasing list of apps that some users can no longer live without. The question becomes if brand loyalty will keep drawing in the extra cash for the better storage, or if Apple’s loyalty base will continue to convert over to Android, where memory upgrades are far less expensive.
Google took steps to prevent the abuse of its Play Store by cracking down on what app creators are allowed to provide in the descriptions of the app. Firstly, companies can no longer upload their own testimonials for the apps’ descriptions; the only testimonials that can be added have to come from a particular app’s discussion. While this is easily circumvented, it helps in a small way to prevent the app’s creator from unnecessarily embellishing ‘testimonials’ placed on the product itself. Further, Google has cracked down on the addition of keywords in the app’s description. No longer can apps include search words not relative to the app itself, preventing the app from appearing in unrelated searches.
