Apple has been found guilty of willfully committing acts of patent infringement against a one-man company called Smartflash. A court in Texas ruled Apple responsible for over $500 million in infringement costs for copyrights of tools used in the fullest range of Apple products, including iTunes and iPhones. Using that technology illegally in such a wide range of products illegally may require Apple to pay a percentage of all profits for computers and mobile devices to Smartflash. Apple fell over 2.5% yesterday, though in today’s premarket has recovered 0.4%.
