European markets have opened higher today, tracking overnight gains on Wall Street. Investors look ahead to the minutes of the Federal Reserve’s latest policy meeting due later in the day.

Closer home, market participants await UK total trade balance figures which are expected to show a deficit of £9.2 billion in February. Earlier, data from the British Retail Consortium indicated that shop prices in the UK dropped at the fastest pace since 2006 in March.
