17 June 2015: Dennis Melka, founder, executive chairman and CEO of United Cacao, updates IG on progress at its cacao plantation in Peru. Dennis remains confident of revenues in 2016 as the planting schedule remains firmly on track.
Its shares have risen 90% since it listed on the London market last year. Melka says it has been a ‘very exciting 6 months’, they now have 1,600 hectares planted and on track to hit 2,000 hectares by December, with a goal of over 3,250 by the end of 2016, making them the largest cacao plantation in the world. He also discusses the company’s cash burn, and says if they want to continue the planting next year they will need to use bank finance or raise some equity.
Melka says ‘it is an incredible market and the next few years will be very exciting’ and talks about the reasons for listing in Lima.
