The euro retreated from early advances as it declined versus most major counterparts in early trading Monday.

The currency dropped to four-day troughs of $1.2730 per US dollar from Friday’s $1.2768. Against the Swiss franc, it traded at 1.2061 from 1.2078.

Versus the Japanese yen, the currency was at ¥136.45, snipping gains from 10-day peak of ¥137.00.
