Governor Haruhiko Kuroda of the Bank of Japan on Wednesday said Japan’s economy sustained recovery, but said private consumption was inadequately weak.

He told the parliament that the consumption is not strong enough, adding that increase in wages and household income was substantial for consumers to bolster spending.

Kuroda rejected the idea of watering own the 2 percent inflation target of the BOJ when an opposition lawmaker advised him to make it a long-term goal.
