Manufacturing survey for China dropped to 48.9. Falling commodity prices also pressured the currency, according to official HSBC Bank data.

Against the euro and the US dollar, the Aussie ended at 1.4345 from Friday’s 1.4259, and 0.7801 from 0.7839. It also closed at ¥93.72 from ¥94.21.
