Initial claims increased by 8 thousand during the week ending December 15th after plummeting to 206 thousand the week before. The US Monthly House Price Index for October is up next at 2 PM. The average prices of single-family houses were up by point 2 percent in September. The last monthly decline was posted in early 2014. A couple of publications regarding the US economy will be published at 3 PM GMT, including the high importance Consumer Confidence for December. Confidence declined to 135.7 in November. “Despite a small decline, Consumer Confidence remains at historically strong levels,” said Lynn Franco, Senior Director of Economic Indicators at The Conference Board. The US New Home Sales stats for November are out at the same time. Sales plummeted by 8.9 percent month on month in October to a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 544 thousand. A total of three reports regarding Japanese economy wrap up this agenda. Fist, the Japanese Tokyo CPI figures for December will be released at 11:30 PM GMT. Then there are a couple of preliminary reports for November at ten to midnight, including Industrial production stats and retail sales figures.
