The publications of the Swiss Trade Balance for December opens this agenda at 7 o’clock in the morning. Trade surplus expanded above the 3 billion Swiss Franc level in November. The US S&P Case-Shiller House Price Index for November is up next at 2 PM GMT. The annual growth of the 20-city house price index has been easing back in recent months and it slipped from 5.2 to 5 percent in October. The release of the US Consumer Confidence for January could then potentially shake up the Buck at 3 PM. Confidence index declined during the final month of last year as it moved South of the 130 level. This followed a moderate decline that was posted in November. Preliminary Japanese Retail Sales for December are up next at ten to midnight. Retail sales growth slowed down sharply in November from October’s level of 3.6 percent. Another contraction is expected in this publication as well. Then the UK Shop Price Index for January will be available shortly after midnight. The all item index growth accelerated slightly in December to point 3 percent. Food was up by 1.5 percent, while the non-food category stood point 4 percent in the red. And last up for this calendar is the high importance Australian Consumer Price Index for the fourth quarter at a half past midnight. The all group price index was up by point 4 percent in the third quarter and this matched the increase that was posted in the June quarter.
