January is well under way and we are back with the Economic Calendar of the potential FX market movers for this Monday. It’s a market holiday in the US due to Martin Luther King Day, so trading will most likely be lighter than usual on both sides of the Atlantic. The calendar is extremely light around the globe with most of the action coming from China at 2 AM GMT. A total of four publications will be released at this time, including the high importance fourth quarter Gross Domestic Product report. Growth of the Chinese economy slowed down more than expected in the third quarter as it eased back to six and a half percent. There will be three more updates for December, including Retail Sales stats, Industrial Production figures and Fixed Assets Investment data. Other than that, there is just one more release on the agenda and it’s the German Producer Price Index for December at 7 AM.
