Oil producers meeting: Will they reach an accord? • The major oil producers will announce today whether a consensus has been reached. • Headlines from Iran and Saudi Arabia yesterday suggest that a deal is unlikely now. • Oil could come under renewed selling interest on the announcement of “no deal”.
Fed Chair Yellen to testify before Congress • Yellen will testify on the supervision and regulation of big banks. • If lawmakers question her on mon. policy in the Q&A, USD may experience volatility.
ECB’s Draghi to face German lawmakers • Draghi to discuss ECB policy amid mounting German criticism over ultra-low rates.
Today’s indicators: • Norway: Retail sales ex. autos for Aug. are exp. to rise, which may support NOK a bit. • Sweden: Consumer and manufacturing confidence indices, both for Sep. • US: Durable goods orders for Aug. are exp. to have fallen. The forecast is supported by the disappointing ISM manufacturing PMI for the month. This could hurt USD. • Speakers: Besides Yellen and Draghi, St Louis Fed President James Bullard and Chicago Fed President Charles Evans.
