Yellen strikes a balanced tone but makes no reference to December
• Yellen’s speech fell short of being a market mover for USD, as she did not address near-term policy or the likelihood for a Dec. hike.
• Focus now turns to a speech by Fed Vice Chair Fischer today at the Economic Club of New York.

Today:
• Eurozone: Final CPI for Sep. Usually not a major market mover.
• US: Empire state manuf. index for Oct. and industrial production for Sep.
• Speakers: Besides Fed Vice Chair Stanley Fischer, ECB President Mario Draghi speaks.

This week:
• Tuesday: New Zealand’s CPI for Q3 is exp. to slow, which may prove NZD-negative. We also get Sep. CPI data from both the UK and the US.
• Wednesday: Bank of Canada rate decision. We exp. officials to maintain a dovish tone, which may hurt CAD. China’s GDP for Q3. Also, China’s retail sales, industrial production and fixed asset investment, all for Sep. From the UK, we get employment data for Aug.
• Thursday: During Asian morning, we have the 3rd US Pres. debate between Clinton and Trump. During the European day, we have an ECB policy meeting. Focus likely to be on Draghi’s press conf. and Q&A session. In the UK, retail sales for Sep. are due out.
• Friday: Canada’s CPI data for Sep.
