Euro slides on Draghi’s warnings • ECB’s Draghi voiced concerns about Eurozone’s lack of fiscal and structural reforms. • Euro slid on his comments, as he highlighted that central banks cannot solve all of the bloc’s problems. • His comments reinforce our view that the ECB may remain on hold for now. • EUR/USD is likely to stay volatile due to risk events this month. No clear short-term directional bias.
Today: • Germany: Final CPI for May is exp. to confirm the prel. estimate. • Norway: CPI for May is exp. to slow down. This could hurt NOK. • US: U of M prel. consumer sentiment for Jun. • Canada: Unemployment rate for May is exp. unchanged. We see upside risks to the forecast, perhaps for the rate to rise. If so, it could prove CAD-negative. • Speakers: ECB Vice President Vitor Constancio.
