FOMC Rate Statement Elevates Spreads For Most Currency Pairs

Lets find out if the spreads were shaken up by the FOMC rate statement. Euro/Dollar’s long term average spread is point 34 pips and peak separation has been 1 and a half pips. The pair has moved sharply South from the 1 17 level as it declined by point 79% or 92 pips. US ADP Employment Report has had the most pressure on the spreads for this pair, but make sure your broker hasn’t charged you more than 1.5 pips. The Cable’s daily average spread is point 85 pips and both of the sides were 3 and a half pips apart yesterday. Pound/Dollar has been trending South, declining by a total of point 59% or 78 pips. Spreads were bumpy for a number of ticks yesterday at 6 PM GMT during the US FOMC statement, but 3.5 pips is the biggest gap you should have seen. And last up is the Dollar/Yen, which has long term average and maximum spreads of point 53 and 2.7 pips respectively. The pair dropped yesterday by a total of point 55% or 62 pips to hit the daily low of 111 39.
