European markets have opened higher this morning, as investors awaited the outcome of the Federal Reserve’s two-day meeting which is expected to throw clarity over the stance on monetary policy. However, gains were muted, in the wake of thin trading as many markets in Europe remained closed for the May Day public holiday. Meanwhile, economists expect the UK manufacturing PMI to marginally increase to a reading of 48.5 in April, compared to a reading of 48.3 reported in the previous month.
