European markets have opened higher today, tracking gains in Asian markets, after data showed that China’s economy expanded slightly more than expected in the first quarter of 2014. Meanwhile, traders continue to track developments in Ukraine. Closer home, market participants will keep an eye on the nation’s labour market data which is expected to show that the number of people claiming unemployment benefits continued to drop in March.
