European markets have opened lower this morning, following their Asian counterparts, as weaker-than-expected Chinese economic data sparked concerns over the pace of global economic growth. Earlier, Rightmove reported that, on an annual basis, the house price index in the UK rose 0.4% in April, compared to a 1.2% increase in March. Meanwhile, investors look ahead to the Euro-zone trade balance data and a meeting between key government officials in Cyprus to discuss an urgent growth plan for the nation.
