Hi all,
Welcome to the Final Beat the Broker entry.
It’s been really fun trading this week, amidst a reasonably challenging market. Volatility has been quite low; it’s been difficult to find opportunities since the signals haven’t really been there. The trading method I’ve used has been to scale into positions but run pretty tight stops in order to try and avoid trades moving off-side. Admittedly when you put tight stops in place it can be slightly frustrating at times trying to get optimum positions; I have had a lot of orders stopped out. However, when I did get the position on I have been taking the profits for it.
On the whole it’s been a fairly interesting trading session. Shorting the Dollar was one of my primary trades and it seems to have been quite successful, with negative US macroeconomic figures pushing the Dollar down. I also went long on Cable; in contrast to the US, recent numbers on this side of the Atlantic have demonstrated that the UK economy is recovering nicely.
Altogether, my trades over the week have been fairly remunerative. I closed the week 47% up, which I think was a decent result in these light markets. I started out with my initial capital of £5,000 and I have got just under £7,350 now.
It was good fun. I hope you guys enjoyed it.
I am looking forward to getting the results from the Finance team to see who if any of you have managed to beat me. Last time I checked there were a couple of traders ahead of me; plaudits to them.
Catch up soon.
Joe
