The January Flash PMI and ECB Monetary Policy Thursday is here, so let’s take a closer look with the Dukascopy Economic Calendar.
The Flash Manufacturing and Services PMI run starts with French statistics at a quarter past eight in the morning. Flash German statistics will then be released fifteen minutes later. The whole bloc’s data will then be available at 9 o’clock in the morning. Both Manufacturing and Services indexes have been trending South in recent months, but they remain above the 50-mark for now.
Then we have the key event of the day for the Euro traders and it’s the European Central Bank monetary policy announcement at 12:45 PM GMT. As usual, the press conference will follow at 1:30 PM. A number of risks remain on the table for the region, which means the rates could stay at a low level for longer.
The US Jobless Claims data will then be published at 1:30 PM GMT. Initial claims declined by three thousand to 213 thousand during the week that ended January 12th. This was the second consecutive weekly decline.
The Markit measure of the Flash United States Manufacturing and Services PMIs will be released at 2:45 PM GMT.
Then, the US Leading Indicators for December are out fifteen minutes later. The index rose by point 2 percent in November to partially recovered the point 3 percent decline that was posted in October.
The Japanese Tokyo Consumer Price Index for January wraps up this agenda at 11:30 PM GMT. The annual core inflation slowed down during the final month of last year, as it slipped back south of the one percent level.
