Let’s see what fundamentals could move the FX markets on this week’s opening trading day. Swiss KOF Economic Barometer for July opens this agenda at 7 o’clock in the morning. Economic barometer rose more than expected in June as it gained 1.7 points. UK Lending to Individuals for June is up next at 8:30. Lending increased by 5.3 billion pounds in May and this follows April’s rise of 5.6 billion. US Pending Home Sales for June follow at 2 PM GMT. Pending home sales decreased modestly in May and they have now fallen on an annualized basis for the fifth straight month, according to the National Association of Realtors. New Zealand Building Consents for June will be available at a quarter to 11. Consents jumped by 7.1% in May to wipe out April’s contraction of 3.6%. UK Consumer Confidence for July is up next shortly after 11 PM. Index decreased by two points in June, with falls across all five measures. Then there are a couple of June reports regarding Japanese economy – Labour Force Survey will be released at 11:30 PM GMT and Preliminary Industrial Production figures will then follow at ten to midnight. China Manufacturing and Non-Manufacturing PMIs for July will be released at 1 AM. Both measures are above the 50 level, but services sector is expanding at a faster rate. New Zealand Business Outlook for July will be available at the same time. ANZ Research called the previous report June Gloom, because when businesses were asked what they thought about business conditions in the year ahead, a net 39% of businesses were pessimistic. Australian building approvals for June follow a half an hour later. Approvals were down by 3.2% in May and this was the second decline in a row. A couple of Japanese reports wrap up this busy day at 5 AM. Housing starts statistics for June is one of them and Consumer Confidence for July is the other and the final publication.
