Coming up first at 8:30 AM is the UK Consumer Credit for August. Consumer credit growth accelerated in July, following a point 7 billion gain the previous month. The highly anticipated preliminary estimate of German Consumer Price Index for September follows at noon. The annual inflation stood unchanged in August as falling energy costs offset growing service prices. US Personal Income and Spending for August is out at 12:30 PM GMT. Income grew less than expected in July, while spending saw a disappointing decline. US Pending Home Sales for August will be available at 2 o’clock. Sales surged in July, fully reversing the unexpected 1.3% slip a month ago. The next item on the schedule comes at quarter to ten in the evening, when New Zealand Building Permits for August are released. The number of permits continued to increase in July as apartment permits reached a six year high. Japanese Household Spending for August is due at 11:30. Spending has been declining since the sales tax raise in August, but the July results still came in worse than expected. Coming up next at 11:50 are two news releases regarding the Japanese economy in August, including the Preliminary Industrial Production. Industrial output returned to growth in July but not enough to reverse a 3.4% drop in June. On the other hand, Retail Sales came in stronger than expected, suggesting some recovery. New Zealand NBNZ Business Confidence for September will be published at midnight. Confidence has been declining for the past six months and, although it still indicates optimism, it is now a far cry from the peak of 70.8 points it reached in February. And Japanese Housing Starts for August are out at 5 AM. Housing starts have been declining for the past five months. These are the news releases to watch this Monday.
