News reports don’t match the times of the peak spreads – 1.4 pips were posted yesterday at 12:39 PM and 1.2 pips today shortly after 9 o’clock. The Cable’s spreads have averaged at point 89 pips during the last 24 hours, peaking at 3.8 pips during the last 4 hours. Pound/Dollar has been on a rise, gaining point 71% or 92 pips to reach the daily high of 1 3031. Spreads were at their highest point today at 8:05 in the morning, but the max of 3.8 pips lasted just a single tick. Last up is the Dollar/Yen, which has long term average and maximum spreads of point 38 and 1.4 pips respectively. Greenback has been on a rise against the Yen, gaining point 63% or 63 pips as the pair heads towards the 101 level. Preliminary US consumer confidence sent the spreads slightly higher yesterday at 2 PM GMT, but you shouldn’t’ have seen a separation bigger than 1.4 pips.
