The latest update on German inflation is scheduled for Thursday, the 27th of November, so let’s take a closer look with the Economic Calendar. I’m Ben Jones
US markets will be closed for Thanksgiving, but, for the rest of the world, it is a busy day.
The first item on the schedule comes at 8:55 AM, and it is the closely watched German Labour Report for November. Unemployment went down more than expected in October, although the seasonally adjusted jobless rate stood unchanged.
European Central Bank President Mario Draghi will be delivering a closely watched speech at half past eleven when he will be speaking at a seminar organised by the Bank of Finland in Helsinki.
German GfK Consumer Confidence for November is out at noon. The Index returned to growth in October, having seen a decline for the past two months.
The highly anticipated German Preliminary CPI for November comes at 1 o’clock. The October release surprised on the downside as consumer prices went down for the first time in four months.
Two news releases regarding the Japanese economy in October are out at 11:30 PM GMT, including the closely watched Consumer Price Index. The annual inflation slowed down in September from 3.1% in August.
Jobless rate inched higher in September, but the growth was in line with the market expectations.
Another couple of October news publications from Japan follow 20 minutes later, including Preliminary Retail Sales. The September sales came in much stronger than expected, posting the strongest growth since the April sales tax hike.
Preliminary Industrial Production is due at the same time, and, once again, the September data showed surprisingly strong growth, fully reversing a 1.9% decline the previous month.
New Zealand NBNZ Business Confidence for November will be available at midnight. The Index surged by 14 points in October, and that was the first growth in 7 months.
UK GfK Consumer Confidence for November is released 5 minutes past midnight. The Index continued to decline in October, having slipped below zero a month ago.
And Japanese Housing Starts for October conclude the schedule at 5 AM. Housing starts continued to decline in September but at a slower pace than anticipated.
That’s all for Thursday’s Economic Calendar. Our next Calendar will cover the most important news publications for Friday, but until then, goodbye.
