Euro/Dollar’s long term average spread is point 31 pips and both of the sides were 1 and a half pips apart yesterday. Daily high and low difference of 57 pips was posted during a rise of point 45%. A couple of news reports regarding the US economy were out yesterday at a half past noon GMT, sending the spreads up, but you shouldn’t have seen a gap bigger than 1.5 pips. The Cable’s long term average and maximum spreads are 1.08 and 4.7 pips respectively. Pound/Dollar’s trend has shifted numerous times and the biggest move is a rise of point 4% or 65 pips. Spreads were elevated for a while yesterday at 12:30 PM GMT here as well, but make sure your broker hasn’t charged you more than 4.7 pips. And the last pair for this report is Dollar/Yen, which has a daily average of point 31 pips. Peak spread has been 2.8 pips. This instrument plummeted by point 79% or 86 pips, but most of the loss was recovered as it rose from the low of 108 48. The US data sent the spreads up yesterday at a half past noon GMT here as well, but 2.8 pips is the biggest separation you should have seen. This was the main Spike Controller for Friday. These stats will be updated on an hourly basis, so stay tuned.
