The Dukascopy TV team is here with another Economic Calendar. Let’s see which news releases could be of interest to currency traders on Friday, the 25th of August.
The final reading of German second quarter GDP is out at 6 AM. The preliminary estimate puts the quarterly growth at point 6%, which is the same pace as a quarter ago.
German Ifo Business Climate follows at 8. The Index has been rising for 6 months straight and now stands at a record-high level.
Coming up next at 12:30 PM GMT are the closely watched US Preliminary Goods Orders for July. The total number of orders surged in June in light of a strong gain in aircraft orders, but the core reading grew less than expected.
And Friday also brings the Fed’s annual economic symposium at Jackson Hole with a number of highly anticipated speeches. The first of them is scheduled at 2 o’clock when Fed Chair Janet Yellen will be speaking on the topic of financial stability. There have been rumours Chair Yellen may be on her way out, so this might be her last Jackson Hole symposium.
European Central Bank President Mario Draghi will take the floor at 7, and he will face a different challenge; policy makers have been dropping increasingly hawkish hints about the possible end of QE program, so markets would really appreciate more clarity on the subject.
I’m Jessica Walker and these are the news releases to watch this Friday. Check back in for the next overview of Monday’s key events.
