The Economic Calendar is short on Friday, the 26th of May, but it definitely has some market movers. Let’s take a quick look.
The schedule consists entirely of US data releases. The first two high importance events are out at 12:30 PM GMT, and the second estimate of first quarter GDP is one of them. The initial reading was somewhat disappointing as it showed the weakest growth since early 2015; in particular, consumer spending saw little change.
Preliminary Durable Goods Orders for April come at the same time. The March data was another unpleasant surprise as orders for cars, metal products and machinery went down, pushing the total lower.
And the final estimate of University of Michigan Consumer Sentiment for May concludes the schedule at 2. The preliminary estimate suggests the Index has rebounded from its drop to 97 points in April.
I’m Kiays Khalil and this was the Economic Calendar for Friday. We’ll be back with the next overview of news releases for Monday. See you then.
