Tuesday brings the latest Purchasing Managers’ Indices from around the world, so let’s take a closer look with the Economic Calendar. I’m Imogen Comrie.
Preliminary September PMIs from several European countries will be available first thing in the morning, starting with the French release at 7 AM. The German index follows half an hour later, and the data for the entire Euro Zone comes at 8. Both the service and manufacturing indices came in lower than expected in August, although they still indicate a slight expansion.
Two news releases regarding the UK economy in August are out at half past eight, and Mortgage Approvals is one of them. The number of approvals inched lower in July in light of stronger restrictions introduced in April and June.
Public sector net borrowing surprised on the downside in July as the surplus of 1.1 billion pounds was smaller than expected.
Coming up next at 12:30 PM GMT are the closely watched Canadian Retail Sales for July. Sales posted their sixth consecutive monthly increase in June as growth was recorded across most subsectors.
New Zealand Trade Balance for August will be available at 10:45 in the evening. The balance turned negative in July as exports went down for the first time in ten months.
Australian Conference Board Leading Index for July will be released at midnight. The Index has been growing for most of the year.
And last up at 1:35 AM is the Japanese Preliminary Manufacturing PMI for September. The Index rose to a six-month high in August.
These were the most important news releases scheduled for Tuesday, the 23rd of September. Check back in for the next overview of key events for Wednesday. Goodbye.
