I’m Ben Jones Euro/Dollar’s long term average spread is point 32 pips and peak separation has been 5.4 pips. This pair has been trending lower for most of the last 24 hours, losing point 81% or 104 pips in the process. Spreads were elevated after 11:58 AM yesterday, but 5.4 pips is the most you should have seen. Next up is the Cable, and its long-term average stands at 2.62 pips, although the 4-hour average is notably higher at 7.41 pips. The maximum separation reaches a massive 220 pips, and it was registered within the last 4 hours. Pound/Dollar has seen a decline, and it is down by slightly more than 1% or 169 pips. Spreads reached unusually high levels after 6:36 this morning, so let’s see what happened. Both sides remained miles apart for a number of ticks, but you should really talk to your broker if you have been charged even more than 220 pips. And we are back to normal with the Dollar/Yen, which has the long term average and maximum spreads of point 3 and 1.6 pips respectively. Trend has been shifting for this instrument, but the biggest move was a gain of half a percent or 53 pips. US Existing Home Sales were out at 2 PM GMT yesterday, and that was the time of the peak spread, but it did not exceed 1.6 pips. And that’s all for Wednesday’s Primary Spike Controller.
