We have Flash PMIs and a monetary policy announcement on the agenda for this Thursday, so let’s take a look.
March Flash PMI run starts at 8 o’clock with French figures. German stats will be available a half an hour later and the overall bloc’s figures are set for publication at 9 o’clock. Both Manufacturing and Services indexes declined in February, but they remain well above the 50 level.
German IFO Survey for March will also be published at 9 o’clock. According to IFO institute, the very favorable business climate cooled down considerably in February. Business climate index fell to 115.4 in February from 117.6 posted in the year’s opening month.
Then we have a couple of potential Sterling shakers, including UK retail sales for February at 9:30. Sales expanded by a fraction in January after plummeting 1.4% in the final month of last year.
The Bank of England monetary policy announcement is the other high importance publication at noon GMT. Benchmark interest rate was left unchanged at a half a percent in previous meeting by a unanimous vote.
US Jobless claims report is up next at a half past noon GMT. Initial claims declined by 4 thousand during the week ending March the 10th.
Flash US PMIs for March by Markit Economics will be available at a quarter to 2. Manufacturing PMI slipped in February, but Services PMI rose.
Japanese National CPI for February wraps up this calendar at 11:30 PM. Annual core inflation has been hovering slightly below the 1% mark during recent months, but it’s expected to hit this level this time around.
