Trade surplus narrowed in October as exports dropped and imports went up. UK Public Sector Net Borrowing for November follows at half past 9, and October’s budget deficit was larger than anticipated, up from 4.3 billion pounds a year ago. A number of news releases regarding the US economy are out at 1:30 PM GMT, including the closely watched final estimate of third quarter GDP. The second estimate puts the annualised quarterly growth at the notably robust level of 3.3%. The high importance weekly update on jobless claims comes at the same time. Initial claims dropped by 11 thousand during the week ending December 9, whereas continuing claims went down by 27 thousand during the week ending December 2. Philly Fed Manufacturing Index for December is released at this time as well. November data surprised on the downside as the Index dropped by more than 5 points. And, for a good measure, a couple of Canadian news releases are out at the same time, that is, half past 1. The closely watched November CPI is one of them, and analysts expect the annual inflation will now reach the Bank of Canada target rate, namely, 2%. Retail Sales for October are due at the same time. Sales rebounded in September, reversing a point 1% slip the previous month. US House Price Index for October is scheduled at 2. Home prices continued growing in September as supply remains limited, but the gain was smaller than anticipated. US Leading Index for November follows at 3. The Index saw a notable growth in October, suggesting the US economy has recovered from the hurricane season. And Preliminary Euro Zone Consumer Confidence for December is out at the same time. The November result was quite remarkable as the Index inched a fraction in the positive territory for the first time ever since its launch.
