Euro/Dollar’s spreads have averaged at point 37 pips during the last 24 hours, peaking at 1.7 pips. Rate movement was bullish yesterday, the pair gained point 58% or 74 pips, but it has given up most of those gains as it declined from the daily high of 1 2931. Spreads have been generally calm and the peak separation doesn’t match the time of the news releases. Both of the sides were 1.7 pips apart yesterday at 2:42 PM as the rate moved South. The Cable’s long term average and maximum spreads are 1.61 and 7.6 pips respectively. Pound/Dollar had a bullish run all the way to the high of 1 6526 as it gained 1.38% or 225 pips, but the following pull back has wiped out a considerable part of the gains. US Jobless claims and building permits both were out yesterday at a half past noon GMT and that’s the time of the peak spread. Both of the sides stayed separated for a while, but you shouldn’t have been charged more than 7.6 pips. And wrapping up this report is Dollar/Yen. Daily average is point 38 pips and peak separation has been 3 pips. The pair was moving towards the 110 level, gaining point 8% or 87 pips, but it has retreated from the high of 109 46. Spreads peaked yesterday at 2 PM GMT during the Philly Fed Survey release, but make sure your broker hasn’t increased spreads artificially above the max of 3 pips.
