It’s Wednesday and you’re watching the Dukascopy Spike Controller, where we’ll take a look at the benchmark interbank price stats for 3 non-cross majors. Euro/Dollar’s long term average spread is point 34 pips and peak separation has been 1.4 pips. Past 24 hours have been Euro bearish and the pair has dropped by more than 1% or 125 pips to stop just pips above the 1 16 level. Despite the volatile rate movement, spreads have been mostly calm, not exceeding 1.4 pips. Next up is the Cable, which has a daily average spread of point 85 pips. Max of 5 pips was posted during the past 4 hours. Pound/Dollar has plummeted as well and it’s down by a massive 1.86% or 247 pips, hitting the daily low slightly above the 1 30 level. Spreads were bumpy today at 8:30 as the UK data was released, but 5 pips is the most you should have been charged. And last up is the Dollar/yen, which has long term average and maximum spreads of point 4 and point 9 pips respectively. Greenback gained ground against the Yen, appreciating by a total of point 68% or 76 pips. Spreads have been calm for this instrument and the biggest gap was only point 9 pips.
