Hello, I’m Ben Jones and you’re watching another edition of the Dukascopy Economic Calendar. Here’s a run-down of the most important news publications for Friday, the 17th of October. The first event on the schedule comes at 9 AM, when Eurostat will release the EU GDP figures according to the revised ESA 2010 methodology. This will be the first publication using the revised methodology, and it will include data for the European Union, Euro Zone, and individual member states. Euro Zone Construction Output for August will be available at the same time. Output stood unchanged in July, following a point 7% decline a month ago. Federal Reserve Chair Janet Yellen will be delivering a closely watched speech at 12:30 PM GMT. She will be speaking at the Federal Bank of Boston Economic Conference on Inequality of Economic Opportunity. US Housing Starts for September is due at the same time. The August data came in lower than expected, having reached a seven-year high the previous month. Canadian Consumer Price Index for September is released at this time as well, and it is of high importance to Loonie Dollar traders. Consumer prices stood unchanged in August as a drop in petrol prices reversed gains in other sectors. And last up at 2 o’clock is the highly anticipated preliminary estimate of University of Michigan Consumer Confidence for October. The Index surprised on the upside in September and now stands at its highest level since July 2013. So these are the news releases to watch this Friday.
