ECB President Mario Draghi was testifying before the European Parliament yesterday, and spreads peaked at 1.9 pips during his speech, after 2:45 PM. Pound/Dollar’s average long-term spread stands at 1.28 pips, and the daily peak of 8.6 pips was reached within the last hour. The Cable surged this morning, gaining point 78% or 112 pips and peaking at 1 4517. UK Consumer Price Index was out at half past 9 this morning. Both sides separated just ahead of the release, and that’s when the peak of 8.6 pips was reached, but they soon moved back closer again. And last up is the Dollar/Yen with the average and peak daily spreads of half a pip and 1.6 pips, respectively. The pair was trending higher yesterday, but a subsequent drop of point 92% or 106 pips brought it down to 113 82.
