Euro/Dollar’s long term average spread is point 3 pips and maximum gap of 2.3 pips was recorded during the last hour. The rate moved South yesterday by point 46% or 52 pips and it has been mostly moving sideways afterwards. German ZEW Survey was released today at 9 o’clock and that’s the time of the peak daily spread, so let’s see what happened. Rate movement was volatile for a number of ticks, but 2.3 pips is the most you should have been charged. The Cable’s long term average is slightly above 1 pip and both of the sides moved 6 pips apart during the last 4 hours. Pound/Dollar dropped yesterday, but it has since gained point 55% or 85 pips to hit the daily high. UK PPI and CPI both were out today at 8:30 in the morning and they sent the spreads higher. They were elevated for a while, but 6 pips is the biggest separation you should have seen. And the final pair for this overview is the Dollar/Yen, which has long term average and maximum spreads of point 37 and 1.6 pips respectively. This pair has moved sharply down today, declining by more than 1% or 125 pips. Spreads have been mostly calm and the biggest gap of 1.6 pips took place today at 3:34 in the morning as the rate rose. This draws Tuesday’s primary Spike Controller to an end. As usual, these stats will be updated on an hourly basis so stay tuned.
