Swiss National Bank will release its latest Monetary Policy Statement at half past 7 in the morning, and markets are not really expecting any changes on the bank’s accomodative stance. There’s more anticipation for the latest Bank of England policy statement, which follows at 11. Rising inflation has been a concern for the policy makers, so traders will be on the lookout for any hawkish comments. Coming up next at 12:30 PM GMT are the closely watched US inflation data for August. The previous reading was disappointingly low, which gives the Fed less reason to raise the interest rate this year. The high importance weekly update on US Jobless Claims is out at the same time. The last week’s data was heavily influenced by Hurricane Harvey, and initial claims soared by 62 thousand to a 2-year high. Continuing claims, on the other hand, dropped by 5 thousand during the week ending August 26. Canadian New Housing Price Index for July comes at this time as well. June data surprised on the downside, following two months of strong growth. And there’s little on the schedule until half past 10 in the evening, when New Zealand Performance of Manufacturing Index for August is released.
